The heart of stonehill

Designed by Tony Martin Inc., the Main House is dubbed “Stonehill” for the immense amount of native stone on the property. The home itself incorporates 500 tons of stone.  Every structural and finish choice tells a story. Reclaimed antique hand‑hewn oak timbers, salvaged from an 1880s barn, span the interior and exterior, while locally quarried, hand‑selected Arkansas sandstone wraps the home in stone. A mix of mortar and dry‑stack applications was used intentionally so the house feels as though it evolved over time rather than appearing newly built. Underfoot, wide‑plank antique longleaf pine floors were milled with the patina face exposed, and antique wood and stone flooring add depth and texture throughout.

Architectural details continue in the millwork and hardware. Interior doors are bench‑made from antique longleaf pine and hung on ball‑tip finial hinges. European hardware - including iron rim locks, French iron levers with brass pommel, and iron surface bolts - was selected to feel both tactile and timeless.

Outside, DK Design orchestrated fully landscaped and irrigated flower beds and planters, including two fountain installations that attract birds and create gentle, calming water soundscapes. These details, paired with the stone terrace and outdoor fireplace, turn the area around the home into a series of outdoor rooms rather than a single patio.

Warmth & Craft

Fire and warmth are central to the experience here. Each of the three bedrooms has its own hand‑laid stone, wood‑burning fireplace, in addition to the main living room fireplace, the two‑sided fireplace that serves the kitchen and sunroom, and the outdoor fireplace on the terrace. All are equipped with gas lines for easy ignition, preserving the ritual of a wood fire without the struggle.

Stonehill lodge

The Stonehill house is a 5,015 square foot log-and-stone lodge with 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths, and a half bath, designed to feel as substantial and enduring as the landscape that surrounds it. That intent starts at the roofline with a hand-split Endura Shake roof, engineered to Class A fire and Class 4 hail standards for durability, and continues through bench‑made cedar exterior doors and windows by Arcadia that frame the views and bring in light.

Every structural and finish choice tells a story. Reclaimed antique hand‑hewn oak timbers, salvaged from an 1880s barn, span the interior and exterior, while locally quarried, hand‑selected Arkansas sandstone wraps the home in stone. The sunroom side of the two‑sided fireplace is especially memorable, a light‑filled space that shifts easily from morning coffee and a book, to kids playing board games over hot chocolate, to an evening cocktail while dinner simmers in the kitchen.

The kitchen is designed for serious cooking and effortless hosting. A large double‑oven Wolf range with griddle and grill sits beneath an impressive commercial‑grade custom copper vent hood. An ice maker, trash compactor, warming drawer, and walk‑in pantry keep both prep and service organized, while bench‑made antique longleaf pine cabinetry continues the material story of the floors. Throughout the kitchen and baths, Rohl plumbing fixtures with a living finish develop a soft patina over time.

Architectural details continue in the millwork and hardware. Interior doors are bench‑made from antique longleaf pine and hung on ball‑tip finial hinges. European hardware – including iron rim locks, French iron levers with brass pommel, and iron surface bolts – was selected to feel both tactile and timeless. In the bedroom wing, a wall‑to‑wall, floor‑to‑ceiling bookshelf was custom fabricated on site and fitted to the hallway with precision; drawers that lock with a skeleton key turn the corridor into a gallery of books and objects rather than a simple passageway.

Technology has been integrated quietly but thoughtfully. A Sonos sound system runs throughout the common areas, the terrace, and extends out to the other dwellings and outdoor amenities across the property, allowing music and audio to follow the natural flow of daily life and gatherings. All four dwellings are served by underground trenching for electrical and fiber‑optic internet service, with each structure enjoying its own dedicated connection so the property lives as comfortably as a primary residence despite its seclusion.

Practical considerations have not been overlooked. An oversized three‑car garage is complemented by a stone paver motor court that accommodates another three vehicles, side parking behind the pool area for roughly three more, plus dedicated parking at both cabins.
